AYURVEDA SAMHITA & SIDDHANT
Department of Samhita Siddhnta & Samskruta was established in 2005, since then the department is growing and working for upliftment of Ayurveda.

To establish excellence in basic concepts explained in the Samhitas and to conduct outstanding research.
Mission
Empowering the students with the basic tools for approaching the science of Ayurveda in a structured manner, which shall enable them in understanding the contents of all the branches of Ayurveda and enable them to adopt it in their clinical practice.
Objectives
To educate the students to understand the fundamental concepts of Ayurveda.
- To make Samskruta as a speaking language in the campus.
- To study and to do the research of original manuscripts that are yet unexplored.
Activities of the department
- Every year department conducts Samskruta Shibira, which enables students to speak in samskruta.
- Samhita Adhyayan Krama, helps understand the basic concepts of Ayurveda.
- Guest lecturers will be organized to conduct various researches in the basic concepts.
- Students will be participating in various competitions like essay writing, debate, shloka recitation, extempore etc.
- “Shishyopanayan Samskara” is also conducted.
- Charak Samhita webinar classes will be telecasted.
DEPARTMENT OF RACHANA SHAREERA
Shareera Rachana is the branch of Ayurveda which deals with the knowledge of sturucture of human body. This branch consists knowledge about bones, muscles, blood vessels, strotas, joints, vital organs etc.
This subject helps us to understand the study of normal body structures as stated in ayurvedic samhitas as well as modern science. Complete dissection of cadaver in a systematic manner forms the major part of the practical’s.
Knowledge of Shareera Rachana is essential for better understanding of principles of Chikitsa. It has attracted lot of importance in the field of Surgery.

DEPARTMENT OF KRIYA SHAREERA
Sharir Kriya’ deals with study of the normal functions of the body. The whole purpose of Kriya Sharir is to explore the normal functions of the living organism, their principles, their mechanism and their actions. Ayurved is concepts of Sharir Kriya deals with the functions of Dosh, Dhatu and Malas.
Kriya Sharir subject mainly deals with these 3 pillars. The basic concepts, knowledge, and applicability of Tridosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), Sapta Dhatus (Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja, Shukra), and Trimala (Mutra, Purish, Sweda) are very important in the critical understanding of the disease. Prakruti (concepts of genetics), Mana (mind, cognition,memory etc), Nidra (Physiology of sleep), Ojas,Bala (Physiology of immunity)etc.
The department has a well-established laboratory with modern equipment & Informative charts of different concepts of kriya Shareera along with modern physiology charts of different topics of physiology for better understanding of the subject.

DEPARTMENT OF DRAVYA GUNA VIJNANA
DravyaGuna is one of the major parts of the Vedic science the ancient science of life -Ayurveda and primarily deals with the substances having Medicinal potential of substances. It deals comprehensively about rasa, guna virya, vipaka and prabhava (pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics) of herbs.
Ayurvedic Materia Medica is a store house of several drugs which need to be explored for possible use in the medicine. Several medicinal herbs mentioned in Nighantu related to Dravyaguna like Bhavprakash Nighantu, Raj Nighantu and Dhanwantry Nighantu need to be properly identified.
Branch also deals with identification, collection, storage, and preservation of raw materials of plant origin.

Mission:
*The object of Dravyaguna is to provide a scientific foundation for therapeutics and to increase the resources of the art of healing.
*The exact way in which a drug changes the diseased condition can often be followed only imperfectly in man and hence, recourse has to be made to experiments on healthy or diseased animals to elucidate the principles on which it should be employed.
*Preserve endangered species of medicinal plants and propagate them.
*Promote Ethnobotany and conserve and cultivate medicinal plants

Museum- Departmental museum have preserved wet specimens as well as dry samples for further references.
Laboratory- Departmental laboratory is well maintained with instruments required for pharmacognostic study & research purpose.
Library-Departmental library is fulfilled with herbarium sheets, reference books of Ayurveda & pharmacology along with magazines.
Charts-Flex charts of herbal drugs & modern pharmacology concepts are available.
Herbal Garden- department has well established herbal garden with several plant species marked with botanical name.

DEPARTMENT OF RASASHASTRA AND BAISHAJYAKALPANA
- Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana is a combined branch of Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceuticals, Neutraceuticals and Pharmacology.
- Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana is the potential branch deals with selection of genuine raw drugs, their collection, processing of poisonous herbs, manufacture of herbal, herbo-mineral, herbo-metallic formulations and their therapeutic indications, dose, vehicle and diet.
VISION:
Attain perfection in pharmaceutical processing of Ayurvedic formulations with Standard Operative Procedures.
MISSION:
Develop standard quality dosage forms of Ayurveda formulations without altering the basic concepts to achieve utmost therapeutically benefits.

DEPARTMENT OF AGADA TANTRA EVAM VIDHI VAIDYAK
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Agada Tantra is one amongst the eight branches of Ayurveda deals with Identification, Nature, Prevention, Diagnosis based on signs & symptoms and Treatment of various Visha (poison) conditions according to both Ayurveda and Modern. Students are trained in Vyavahara Ayurveda (Forensic medicine) and Vishivaidyaka (Medical Jurisprudence) in this department.
VISION:
- To Evolve as a base of Excellence for Academics and clinical services of toxicology, forensic medicine and Medical Jurisprudence to widen scholarly knowledge and understanding of Visha, Legal Procedures and Code of Medical Ethics for valuable applicability with well advanced tentative academic programmes.
MISSION:
- To develop awareness among public on Substance abuse, environmental pollution, use of harmful pesticides, use of chemical cosmetics.
- To arrange Law awareness programmes for students, women and children.
- To inspire the the students to follow ethical medical Practice

- Postings to Banahatti JMFC Courts, Bagalkot District Court to witness – oath taking; court procedure; witness & evidence.
- Visit to RFSL (Regional Forensic Science Laboratory), Belagavi to understand the Chemical Analysis of Visceral Organs, Biological Stains etc
- Basic tests are carried out to identify the adulterants in food.
DEPARTMENT OF ROGANIDHANA EVAM VIKRITI VIJNANA
Aims:
The department aims to provide basic knowledge about Dosha dushya Vigyanam and Vyadhi Vigyanam.
Aptitude:
- The department aims at performing history taking and physical examination on patients.
- Demonstrations and practice of various laboratory investigations in departmental laboratory.
- The students are given knowledge to practice Avayavika Pariksha like ECG, USG, CT, MRI and X-Ray.
- The students are given knowledge to diagnosis the diseases on the bases of Srotas, Dosha, Dusya.
- The department having well equipped pathology museum with various specimens to observe the pathological changes in different organs.

DEPARTMENT OF KAYACHIKITSA
Kayachikitsa is the one of the eight branches of Ayurveda which deals with the multi systemic illness of the adults. It deals with therapeutic approach to the disease either through Shodhana (purification), Shamana (pacification) and Satwawajaya (Counseling). These applications are done through medications, behavioural, psychological & life style management. Pharmacological intervention is through various forms of medicines like vati (tablets), kashaya (decoctions), churna (powders), bhasma, asava, arista, ghruta, guggulus etc. Strength of the system is providing efficient, cost effective, personalized medicine with high safety margins. Department of Kayachikitsa for Undergraduate was individualised in 1963, since then the department is growing and working for the upliftment of Kayachikitsa, the first speciality of Ayurveda which successfully flourished in spite of various adversaries for centuries.

To be a centre of global excellence in the field of Kayachikitsa education by assured quality educational programmes to build skilful, competent, self-reliant global citizens towards the health needs of the society.

Ayurveda Ophthalmology & ENT
Introduction
The department of Shalakyatantra deals with understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of diseases occurring above the clavicle. Viz. Diseases of eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and neck. Since this branch of ayurveda deals with the most vulnerable and minute parts various specialized instruments and techniques are used for diagnosis and treatment. These structures are vulnerable to diseases which are progressive with complication by nature. So preserving the structure and functional integrity of parts above the clavicle is given prime importance in Ayurveda with daily routine, seasonal routine and seasonal cleansing for its sustainability.

The subject Kaumarabhritya stands for neonatology and paediatrics in Ayurveda. The fact that ‘Kaumarabhritya’ is the foremost branch amongst the basic eight specialties of Ayurveda and it deals from birth of the child till 16 years of age of the child emphasizing the nutritional aspects required for proper growth and development along with addressing the concerns and diseases during this period.
